Founder of MKG Group, Sustainable Real Estate Developer & Historic Property Expert

James Kennedy

James Kennedy brings a rare combination of craftsmanship, environmental stewardship, and historic property expertise to his work at MKG Real Estate Group. A master carpenter by trade, James has built his real estate career by buying, restoring, and managing rental properties across Albany, Troy, and Saratoga, breathing new life into overlooked buildings while preserving their historic integrity.

With a strong foundation in historic property restoration, James approaches each project with meticulous care—blending timeless design with thoughtful, modern updates. His goal is to create rental properties that are not only functional and beautiful, but also enduring and community-minded.

James’s commitment to sustainable development is evident in every aspect of his work. He has converted all personal and work vehicles to electric (save for his beloved motorcycle), planted hundreds of trees on land he stewards in Greene County, and founded a community garden to expand food accessibility and urban green space.

Beyond his professional pursuits, James is grounded by the simple joys of life. His greatest source of pride and happiness is his daughter, whose presence inspires much of his work. In his downtime, he can often be found exploring the wilderness on backpacking trips, tending to his garden, or getting lost in a good book—pastimes that reflect his thoughtful, grounded, and hands-on approach to everything he does.

Explore historic properties restored with care. MKG Real Estate Group manages a growing portfolio of environmentally responsible, character-rich rentals across the Capital Region.
